Hand crafted magnificent brass sculpture of the Goddess Durga sitting on a Singhasan ( throne) under an intricately crafted Prabhavali and the mythical yali often found sculpted on pillars of south Indian temples. 

Durga is also known as Devi - The Goddess, Shakti which means Strength amongst numerous other names and is one of the most popular of Hindu goddesses.

She is the warrior, whose mythology centres around combating evil and demonic forces that threaten peace, prosperity and Dharma of the good. She is the fierce form of the protective mother goddess, willing to unleash her anger against wrong, violence for liberation and destruction to empower creation.

Durga is always depicted in the Hindu pantheon as a fearless woman riding a lion or tiger, with many arms each carrying a weapon, often defeating the mythical buffalo demon and  appears in Indian texts as the wife of God Shiva and as another form of Parvati or Mother goddess.

With a significant following all over India and Nepal, particularly in its eastern states of India especially West Bengal, Durga is revered the year round and specially during the festival of Navratri and Durga Puja.
