Vintage wooden carving of Lakshmi - Hindu goddess of wealth and prosperity, sculpted from soft and delicate raintree wood found in most States of south India with a dark wood finish.
Inspired by temple architecture of South India, this sculpture of the goddess shows her sitting on a lotus flower under an exquisitely crafted prabhavali handcarved from a single block of wood in fine detail by artisans from Tamil Nadu , South of India where the art of handcrafting and carving idols is legendary and still being practised since centuries.
Lakshmi is one of the best-known and most worshipped deities in the Hindu pantheon found throughout India, Srilanka, Thailand and Nepal and widely revered as the Goddess of wealth and prosperity considered as being highly auspicious especially during Diwali - The festival of lights.
