Collection of 6 exquisite colourful hand made Paper Mache coasters with Madhubani painting depicting birds and animals amidst nature.

Madhubani style of painting originated during the days of the Ramayana and has been hand made as per century old traditions by the village tribal women living in the present town of Madhubani (the literal meaning of which is Forests of honey) where the figures are painted with all natural plant based colours which are bright and yet have earthy tones.

As per tradition, stories from the Ramayan and nature were painted on freshly plastered mud wall of huts, but now are painted on fabric, hand-made paper and canvas.
The theme of Madhubani art revolves around Nature, Indian Mythology and Hindu deities depicting nature with flowers, animals, birds and geometric designs.

This set of 6 coasters comes with a sheesham wood coaster stand with a base in mustard colour on which the motifs and designs are patiently drawn and painted with skill and patience, treated and finally crafted within a border made from Sheesham wood.
