Varanasi is a sacred and oldest city of the world located at the banks of the holy River Ganges where Ganga aarti is performed daily in the evening with such brass Maha Aartis by a group of priests at the Dashash Wamedh ghat.
The Aarti or Agni Pooja is performed where a commitment is made to Lord Shiva, Mata Gange, Surya, Agni (Fire) as well as the whole universe made by the Lord Shiva and accompanied with the mantra chant in the presence of a huge crowd.
All the priests who perform the aarti wear the same cloth - the dhoti and kurta which is tightly bound with a long towel.
