From our Heritage Collection - 6 Tiered Maha Arti or Prayer lamp handcrafted in brass by the most skilled artisans from Uttar Pradesh, India using the traditional Lost Wax process of metal casting with a natural bronze finish.
The Maha Aarti has 63 small diyas spread through out each tier and is crafted with a beautiful peacock perched on top of the Aarti signifying grace, gentleness and beauty.
Varanasi is a sacred and oldest city of the world located at the banks of the holy River Ganges where Ganga aarti is performed daily in the evening with such brass Maha Aartis by a group of priests at the Dashash wamedh ghat.
The Aarti or Agni Pooja is performed where a commitment is made to Lord Shiva, Mata Gange, Surya, Agni (Fire) as well as the whole universe made by the Lord Shiva and accompanied with the mantra chant in the presence of a huge crowd.
All the priests who perform the aarti wear the same cloth - the dhoti and kurta which is tightly bound with a long towel. First they make preparation of the Gange aarti by making collection of the five items namely an oil lamp, an idol of the Goddess Ganga, flowers, incense sticks, a conch shell and the brass Maha Aarti.
