Vintage bell-metal tribal 28 cm tall oil lamp displaying the traditional birds and peacocks beautifully arranged in steps by the skilled artisans from Odhisha, India.
Know as Dhokra, the craft if centuries old and uses the technique of "cire perdue" metal casting where the outer surface of the core wax model is covered with multiple strands of wax wire.
The craft is practised and used with minor variations all over the eastern Indian tribal complex comprising areas in mainly Orissa, Andhra Pradesh, West Bengal, Bihar, Chhattisgarh and Jharkhand ( States of India) .
