As per the Hindu scriptures, essentially any of the three things namely “Pushpam”, “Phalam”, and “Toyam” meaning flower, fruit, and water should be offered to God everyday.
This exquisite flower basket with an octagonal shape having 8 sides known as the “Poola Sajja” in the south of India has a brass handle with 2 small bowls attached to the handle for keeping Kumkum during prayers.
Hand made with brass metal sheet, the basket is skilfully crafted where the brass sheet-metal work is joined by hand pressing using the traditional lock forming techniques.
This Poola Sajja is traditionally used to hold flowers used for pooja in the house or used during religious rituals and is meant to be handed down from one generation to the next .
