Vintage brass and copper Lota or drinking water vessel with beaten metal finish at the bottom of the Lota.
Brass lotas were used in India to drink water where the Lota is tipped from the mouth of the vessel letting the water flow directly into the mouth and also used to pour water over the hands and feet to cleanse before meals.
This Lota with a blend of brass and copper is handcrafted by artisans from the South of India brass displaying a beautiful, sculptural form with a fine delicate beaten metal finish at the bottom of the vessel.
The traditional Indian wisdom of storing water in brass vessels was meant for healthy living and Indians drank their water from brass pots till the beginning of 20th century using brass as a medium of storing and drinking water.
