These single natural Indigo vintage bedspreads are handmade and block printed with a leaf print in beautiful colours of Indigo and white by artisans in Rajasthan, India, using techniques that have been perfected over centuries. The bedspread is Indigo blue on the reverse displaying the famous Kantha running stitch.
The hand dyed fabric is 100% cotton is stitched by hand with a running stitch called Kantha , a style of embroidery famous in West Bengal and in northern India especially Rajasthan.
Indigo linen has been made in the textile town of Sanganer for more than 200 years with the use of Alizarin, indigo, and a range of vegetable colours. The beautiful colour of the Indigo comes from the indigo plant which is soaked to extract the vibrant dye.
Size of single bedspread: 220 cm x 150 cm
- Soak overnight in cold water before using as the Indigo colour will initially bleed.
- Always machine wash separately in cold water on gentle cycle using a non-chlorine bleach detergent.
- Tumble dry, low heat.
- Alternatively, dry clean only.
