Vintage Square Shaped Wooden Tikka | Vermillion Box With A Horse Bust. L13 x W 9 x H 11 cm

Beautifully handmade wooden tikka box in a square shape with floral engraving and 5 small compartments / sections cleverly handcrafted with a bust of a horse for opening and closing the square using a sliding motion.

The box has 5 small petal shaped compartments for storage of the powders and opens only when you push the horses head forward before you slide it open.

Handcrafted in mango wood, such tikka or make up boxes were used in the mid century for storing " sindhoor" known as vermilion worn by married women in the parting of their hair to show respect for their spouse , their long life and a sign of marriage.
