Hand carved from single block of wood and coloured using vegetable and plant dyes in vibrant yet earthy ochre yellow, deep red and indigo blue colours by skilled artisans from the state of Tamil Nadu, south India, this is a Vintage and more than 50 years old.
Her four hands represent the four goals of human life considered important to the Hindu way of life – Dharma, Kama , Artha and Moksha and is protected by the mythical Yali see on top of the carving.
Lakshmi is the Hindu goddess of wealth, fortune and prosperity and is worshipped by all especially during the Indian festival of Deepavali - The festival of lights.
