A magnificent square wall panel handcrafted in wood depicting the Ten primary incarnations or Avatars of Vishnu with goddess lakshmi as the central deity.

Lakshmi is the Hindu Goddess of wealth and prosperity and the wall panel is traditionally known as Dashavatar handcarved from a single block of local wood by skilled artisans from Tamil Nadu, South India.

The word Dashavatara derives from Das, meaning’Ten’ and Avatar (avatra), meaning’incarnation and in this panel refers to the the mythological story of the 10 avatars of Lord Vishnu who descend to the terrestrial world to establish stability and order, time and again.

The list of Dashavatara varies across sects and regions as Krishna, Matsya, Kurma, Varaha, Narasimha, Vamana, Parashurama, Sri Rama, Balarama and Kalki.
