This majestic hand crafted brass Buddha sculpture shows the Buddha in the posture known as "Dharma Chakra Mudra" with beautifully engraved robes and posture depicting his teachings and way to enlightenment.
In this Mudra, the thumb and index finger of both hands touch at their tips to form a circle which represents the wheel of dharma, or the union of method and wisdom.
The three extended fingers of the right hand represent the three vehicles of the buddha’s teachings. The middle finger represents the ‘hearers’ of the teachings. The ring finger represents the ‘solitary realizers’ and the little finger represents the mahayana or ‘great vehicle’.
His left hand rests in his lap with a large decorated alms bowl resting in his palm. His eyes are down cast in deep thought.
Gautama Buddha , the primary figure in Buddhism is recognised as an enlightened teacher who attained full Buddha hood, and shared his insights to help sentient beings end rebirth and suffering.
