This is a beautifully crafted Vintage Brass cradle hanging on chains with delicate brass bells ( Ghungroos ) and Bala Krishna inside the Jhula (cradle).
Displaying the skills and the craft of the artisans from South India, the cradle sits on a rectangular base flanked by elephants on either side with Mahouts under a Prabhavali protected by Yali at the top.
Bala Krishna literally meaning Child Krishna and sometimes translated to "Divine Child Krishna", is historically one of the early forms of worship in Krishnaism. As per Hindu mythology, It is believed that Putana, a huge monster, was killed when the baby Krishna sucked her life from her by taking the poisoned breast she offered him.
Bala-Krishna is often depicted as a small child crawling on his hands and knees as can be seen in the idol inside the cradle.
