Poola Sajja - Traditional Vintage Brass Flower Basket - L 23 cm x W 20 cm x Ht 22 cm

 As per the Hindu scriptures, essentially any of the three things namely “Pushpam”, “Phalam”, and “Toyam” meaning flower, fruit, and water should be offered to God everyday.

This flower basket with an octagonal shape with 8 sides known as the Poola Sajja” in the south of India has a brass handle with 2 small bowls attached to the handle for keeping Kumkum for prayers.

Exquisitely hand made with brass metal sheet, the basket is skilfully crafted where the brass sheet-metal work is joined by hand pressing using the traditional lock forming technique.

This basket is traditionally used to hold flowers used for pooja in the house or at religious rituals and handed down from one generation to the next . 

A Collectors item indeed!
