Vintage brass lamp of Ashtalakshmi with Lord Ganesh - God of wisdom and the eight manifestations of Devi Lakshmi - Hindu goddess of wealth flanked by peacocks. She presides over eight sources of wealth: "Wealth" in the context of Ashta-Lakshmi means prosperity, good health, knowledge, strength, progeny, and power.

The Ashta Lakshmi is always depicted and worshipped in a group in temples and home. Lakshmi is the wife and Shakti (energy) of Lord Vishnu, one of the principal deities of Hinduism and the Supreme Being in the Vaishnavism tradition. With Parvati and Saraswati, she forms Tridevi, the holy trinity.

Handcrafted by skilled artisans from the South of India with the mythical Yali engraved on top of the lamp and twin peacocks, the back of the lamp displays twin majestic elephants and etching of exquisite floral designs all around the lamp.

One can find this traditional Vilakku as part of the family heritage and is said that most families still keep such lamps burning from the time it was lit by their ancestors and illuminates knowledge eradicating the darkness and ignorance in us.
