'Dashavatar' - Ten Incarnations Of Vishnu Handcrafted In Wood. Ht 100 cm x W 10 cm x D 5 cm

A magnificent pair of vertical wooden handcrafted wall panels known as " Dashavatar" depicting the ten primary incarnations or Avatars of Vishnu - The Creater of the Universe as per hindu mythology.

Beautifully sculpted and chiselled by hand from single blocks of local wood with a natural walnut finish by skilled artisans from Tamil Nadu, South India, the word Dashavatara derives from Das, meaning’Ten’ and Avatar (avatra), meaning’incarnation.

Each of these panels refer to the the mythological story of the 10 avatars of Lord Vishnu who descend to the terrestrial world to establish stability and order, time and again.

The list of Dashavatara varies across sects and regions as Krishna, Matsya, Kurma, Varaha, Narasimha, Vamana, Parashurama, Sri Rama, Balarama and Kalki.

Note: Due to the moisture in the wood, you may find a bit of mould on receipt of the item which is very natural as once packed, there is no ventilation . Please allow the panels to dry incase of any mildew observed and use a semi hard brush to clean the area. You can also lightly apply mustard or coconut oil once the panels are clean.
