This Gaja Vilakku is traditional Kerala oil lamp with Lord Ganesha - God of Knowledge and Learning surrounded by 7 oil lamps or diyas and crafted in solid brass with beautiful parrots on either side with a delicately crafted filigree prabhavali making this lamp even more graceful.

Ganesh - also known as Ganapati, Vinayaka and Pillaiyar is the Lord of Good Fortune who provides prosperity, fortune and success. He is the Lord of Beginnings and the Remover of Obstacles of both material and spiritual kinds.

The elephant trunk signifies Lord Ganesha's remarkable memory and intelligence.

Always an integral part of the prayer room, the lighting of the "Deepam"or lamp  denotes and illuminates knowledge and eradicates the darkness and the ignorance in us.
