Gaja Krishna Vilakku, a traditional Kerala oil lamp handcrafted with twin mythical yalis and peacocks, hangs on a thick brass link chain showing Lord Krishna sitting on a trree playing his flute for the "Gopisand his gopis is seen playing the flute sitting on a tree. 

The great exponent of the Bhagavad Gita, Krishna is the god of compassion, tenderness, and love in Hinduism and is one of the most popular and widely revered among Indian divinities.

Always an integral part of the prayer room, these lamps are lit during dusk for prayer and are usually hung in the porch. This reverence for the Lamp is based on the symbolism of the journey from darkness and ignorance to light and the knowledge of the ultimate reality.
