Hand Crafted by artisans in Uttar Pradesh, India, this is a gorgeous piece of Vintage art with a 9 compartment Kum Kum box.
Made from solid brass, this weighs nearly 2 kilograms and is 27 cm wide when open displaying a Majestic central peacock and 9 delicately crafted peahens crafted atop each compartment.
Such hand made ornate kum kum boxes or " Chopra " as originally known, were used by ladies of royalty for storing make up and other fashionable items such as eyeliners, vermilion or sindhoor ( The red pigment used by married Indian women ) and "Bindis" - large colourful dots of cloth for their forehead.
This is a collectors item decorated with intricate peacocks & peahens on top of each compartment which open only by unscrewing the central peacock. A great conversation starter, this unique vintage piece will enhance any space in your home.
