Vintage brass bell-metal tribal oil lamp displaying peacocks and birds handcrafted with intricate engravings and patterns by the skilled artisans of the Indian state of Odhisha, India.
Know as Dhokra, the craft is centuries old and uses the technique of "Cire Perdue" metal casting where the outer surface of the core wax model is covered with multiple strands of wax wire.
The craft is practised and used with minor variations all over the eastern Indian tribal complex comprising areas in mainly Orissa, Andhra Pradesh, West Bengal, Bihar, Chhattisgarh and Jharkhand ( States of India) .
